David Then & Now Color Version

As promised a color version of the Then and Now. I gave up doing it on the computer, so I painted it! I love watercolor! This little travel watercolor set I have is really nice. I thought it was going to be cheap and tacky, but I'm surprised. And the water brush is so fun to use! I have finally been able to paint something and have wet edges!

Need to do a new picture to night... hopefully I won't be too busy play the new game I got last night for my DS.

Then and Now

Colored version, and labels to come shortly!

I drew these on watercolor paper in my moleskine with hopes to paint them. I plan on re-inking them in illustrator and coloring them in photoshop.

On the left we have me, crica 2000 I was 15, and me 9 years later in 2003 at 23. It's funny I drew the now last night, and then wound up wearing the same thing to work today. 0_0

Nerdsday Art

Went to the first ever Nerdsday with my friend Patrick of Visual Post fame. It was a twitter meet up... but more noses in laptops than handshaking.

I drew Patrick's drink. In the dark. Not too bad. I need to learn how to work with light and reflection and clear objects a bit more.

Watercolor and pen on watercolor moleskine.

Dirty dirty, rich rich, dirty rich, beautiful

The scan came out kind of sucky... But alas, a proper Lady Gaga fanart. I think the only thing that looks like her in this is the lightening bolt on her eye...

Product Placement!

Well not really just a simple product review/ rant on how much I love this!

So I stopped by the RISD store about 2 weeks ago. I had heard things about it, like its too expensive, or they don't have the right stuff you need. I had gone there just for fun. I wasn't looking for anything in particular. While looking at their supplies, some of which I have not seen at AC Moore or Utrecht I stumbled upon what looked like a white China marker. But it wasn't, it was an eraser, a Magic Rub eraser. So I got it. It was only like 99¢ so I got it. Little did I know this was going to be the BEST purchase I have ever made in my life.

The eraser erases smooth, and clear, and never smudges! You can also wear it down so it has 2 flat edges and a pointy one (like a letter V) so you can erase big areas, and then little detail spots.

You can order them online from the factory here: http://www.dickblick.com/products/sanford-magic-rub-peel-off-eraser-pencil/#description It's a box of 12. Or check your local art store (like Utrecht) and see if they have them.

Playing around...

Just playing around with a water brush that I picked up yesterday. Still need to play with it more to decide if I like it. :/

Seems to have nice control.

Weekend Art

So everybody baled out on me Saturday for going to Prov Sketchy so I don't have any pictures of boxum gals to post for you today. Instead I started painting the under the sea mural on my Gramma's bathroom wall with the help of my brother's girl friend, Marisa. We did a good job. One or two nights this week I'll have to work on it more, and spend another good chunk of this upcoming Saturday painting again.

Saturday afternoon I went to Sarah's and we watched Rent: Recorded Live on Broaday. Still amazing after the 3rd time seeing it. Seriously people, if you want to see Rent, either see the tour, or the live DVD. The movie is terrible.

Mark and Angel from Rent. Yes, I drew a man.... he is a tad girly looking though.... :/

Then Sunday the student that I am mentoring for her senior project came over to work on her project. We kinda botched things a bit so this week I am going to figure out what we did wrong, correct it, and then tell her about it next time we meet up. And while she was working I drew a Princess Jasmine doppleganger.

Mark and Angel done on Moleskine, Jasmine done in my sketch book. All just pencil.
